What is the NAD IV Treatment Process?

Gaining back control of your life when you’re in the midst of a substance use disorder can be tricky and requires an approach that addresses your physical, mental, and emotional health. From your initial detox to maintaining your sobriety, there are many challenges along the road to recovery, but armed with the right tools, you can come out the other side happier and healthier than ever. One such tool — NAD IV therapy — can provide a critical piece to your recovery puzzle.

At Tres Vistas Recovery, our team of addiction medicine and mental health experts led by Dr. Daniel Headrick, provides patients with the resources they need to overcome substance use disorders of all kinds. Through ongoing support and counseling to NAD IV therapy, we’ve got you covered every step of the way.

Here’s a look at why NAD IV therapy plays such a critical role in your recovery process and what you can expect during your treatments.

Behind NAD

NAD is short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, which is a coenzyme of niacin that’s found in all of your cells. NAD’s role in your cellular health is far from insignificant as it converts the energy you get from your diet into the energy your cells need for optimal function.

While NAD is primarily responsible for your cell’s get-up-and-go, this coenzyme also promotes DNA repair and helps with your intercellular communication.

With our NAD IV therapy, we deliver the resources your cells need directly into your blood through an intravenous drip. Our goal with NAD IV therapy is to re-energize all of your cells and to supply your brain cells with the nutrients they require to reverse the effects of addiction.

NAD’s role in your recovery

We turn to NAD IV therapy in all stages of your recovery, but the early treatments are perhaps the most important. Through our NAD IV therapy, we can help you detox from your drug of choice more easily as the therapy helps significantly reduce your withdrawal symptoms.

While treatment plans vary from one patient to the next, most of our clients benefit from two weeks of daily NAD IV treatments when they take their first steps toward sobriety.

What you can expect during your NAD IV treatments

The first NAD IV treatments are typically the longest — about 7-8 hours since we’re loading up on the NAD to help your body get through the detox period with the least amount of resistance.

Once you’ve cleared the dependency hurdle, we usually reduce these treatments to about 4-6 hours each as your body starts to produce NAD on its own again.

The treatments themselves aren’t terribly cumbersome — we set you up in a private room and hook you up to an IV drip. Once everything is in place and secure, you’re free to visit the common room to socialize or watch TV or you can stay in your private room and use your own personal device for entertainment.

To take advantage of this time, many of our patients choose to avail themselves of our counseling services and therapy during their NAD IV treatments.

After your two-week treatment plan is finished, we may continue with less frequent NAD treatments to help you combat cravings or navigate rough patches during your early recovery.
